Piggy Banks

I'm a baby boomer, and remember the piggy bank concept of saving that many parents of this generation taught. I would fill it with quarters, dimes, nickels, pennies, and the occasional dollar, whenever I was fortunate enough to have one in my possession. I was not allowed to go into the piggy bank until it was completely filled with money. Pieces of newspapper, and metal slugs didn't count. I wouldn't have been allowed to get away with it anyway. Whenever the ceramic piggy bank would be cracked open after being full, if foreign non-monetary objects were found there by my parents I would have quickly been taught an unpleasasnt lesson regarding deception. Ah speaking of deception, our government is a master at monetary deception, as I talked about in the 2 previous posts. One good thing governed by the elementary school that I attended in the late 50s, and 60s, was the savings bank book. Any student could open a school bank book account, with parental consent of course. Hey remember parental consent. Do they still have that? Anyway with my school bank book I could deposit coins, or dollar bills, if I was fortunate to have one in my possession. If I remember correctly only every 3 months I could withdrawl money from that little manilla envelope. Those were the days when saving was a cherished discipline. What in the heck happened? Money now is so hot in the pockests of most people, it is  spent even before it is earned using the credit card to buy mostly stuff that you don't really need! If we honestly look in the mirror we have to realize that the American debt is partly due to we the people's materialism, the bling bling, needless stuff generation.
Americans are consumers and to a certain extent always will be, but why not be smart about it. In this economic time you'd have to be totally clueless not to realize that you just can't spend money the same way as in the past when it was worth more and more available. We have to focus on the essentials first: Mortagage, or rent payments, heating, lighting, food, clothing, and what really makes us scream...GASOLINE. Why not do yourself a favor and find a way to put more money back in your pocket, as you buy the things that you really need. You all have your favorite retail stores where you spend your harder earnd green backs. You look for sales, use coupons, and still over-use the get it now buy it later at 30% more for convience credit card. That convience is costing you a lot of money! Here is a convenient way that is much more cost effective, and even puts money back in your pocket. Here is an opportunity to make retail work much more in your favor. What do you have to loose by checking out this 15 minute video over-view of a can't loose opportunity. What you do have to loose is that hot currency burning your pockets by continuing bad spending habits. Leave the insanity of doing the same thing expecting different results.
